Authorities have seized the passport of Aishath Eesha Ashraf accused of being linked to the production of ‘Aisha’ documentary by media outlet, Adhadhu.
The documentary, which features an anonymous woman with an altered voice, makes serious allegations against President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Last night, Police raided the offices of Adhadhu and seized several items, including electronics.
Passports have also been seized of Adhadhu CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and Editor Hassan Mohamed.
According to Mihaaru News, a woman accused of involvement in the documentary’s production has recently been placed under a travel ban. Details of the ban’s duration are unclear, and there has been no official confirmation as of yet.
Court orders instructing the seizure of Fiyaz and Hassan’s passports state that they pose a flight risk as they are believed to have been involved in the production of the documentary.
The court orders place travel bans on Hassan and Fiyaz from yesterday until July 26, citing an ongoing investigation by the Serious and Organized Crime Department.
President Muizzu was asked about the allegations made in the documentary in his weekly press conference held yesterday. He categorically denied all allegations and stated that he would appeal to relevant authorities to take legal action against all persons involved in the production of the documentary.
